Lazy Sunday
Tomorrow is environmental blog action day go check this linked site out.
My appointment with my gynaecologist went okay. He was completely baffled by me (so is everyone) and the fact that the Progesterone had no discernible effect on my bleeding. He said it should have made a little improvement at least!
He began discussing surgery, a D&C and then putting the Mirena coil in but I am not keen on either as that coil is going to have to come out and be replaced again at some point, yuck! So he has agreed to change my tablets to another type of progesterone called Norethisterone, 5mg 3 times a day until they 'start to show an improvement' and then reduce the dose. I've got 3 months on these and if they don't work then it is surgery time...sigh, okay but still not sure about the coil insertion idea.
When I asked him why these tablets might work when the other tablet of the same hormone didn't, he explained that it was like moisturiser, one that works for one person might not work for another. Good analogy. Oh and I have to loose weight too, he says fat carries lots of it's own hormones that will be hindering with the effects of the tablets.
He is right, I need to loose weight, I am now 15 stone of lovely but unhealthy curves.

These pics are to show you what 15 stone can look like on a tall woman
! No one believes I am 15 stone and I guess I don't look like it because I have a nice shape. Pleasantly curvy or not, at least 3 stone has got to go and even then I will be over my recommended Body Mass Index
but I like how I look at 12 stone best. My diet is excellent so I am going to have to reduce my portion sizes and increase the amount of exercise I get, and no, I will NOT be joining a health club. Any other suggestions are gratefully received.

For those of you who like to spend your Sundays lolling about reading, I have posted my next installment on my 'Novel with no name'blog. Prepare to be incensed by Stephen's behaviour yet again and, perhaps, to shed a tear of frustration on Jenny's behalf.

23 reciprocal ramblings:
Norethisterone is the progesterone that I take. I hope it doesn't affect you the same way it did me to begin with but a smaller dose than he has put you on.
you look as delightful as I knew you would. It is so not fair. My weight has crept back to 14st but being sort it does show (all around the middle)
well you know what the best form of excercise is!
Long time since I've visited. Hope the reason you need treatment isn't too bad.
Losing weight is hard, you need to be really committed. Ironically, a health problem may just be the trigger that gets you going. I need to lose myself at 198 pounds (don't know how many stones that is), but I haven't managed in four years :O.
Anyway, some tips I got during the years: smaller plates, walk or bike instead of drive, every trip up the stairs go down and up again, train with food cans if you can't afford regular weights. Good luck!
true you dont look that weight, i need to grow so ican reach my ideal weight LOL. me i am only 5ft 2 and weigh, get lost not telling anyone that, only me and the doc knows mine!
really hope the new pills to the trick, i remember being on pills called 'danazol' if they offer you tehm decline big time!
have a great sunday
Hi LiR, I am on a much much samller dose than you would be, I read that for cancer it is 8 or more tabs a day! Yikes, no wonder you felt awful! I have taken 3 so far and feel okay, the first one made me feel a bit wobbly but I am foten like that with tabs. I know what the best form of exercise is but the first lot of tabs killed any desire I had for that sort of indoor sport!
Hi Bel, long time no chat! I hate ot tell you tha tyou weigh exactly what I do! I love the food tin tip, thanks. I do walk everywhere poss as I hate to drive, but I really hate the idea of smaller plates, I loooove food so much!Must get over to your blog and see what is happening in your life.
Hello HI, he is not going to offer any more pills after these. I have to have surgery if these don't work. Looking forward to your next post, I have been over to yours already this morning and nothing new yet!
Hi DJ,
You look good at your weight as you say. I am off on holiday so see you in a week!
You look fab me dear, but if you do want any advice on dieting, you know I'm more than willing to help. What you could do if you wanted was to post what you've eaten for the day (like a food diary) and I can give you advice on that. I could even send you a copy of my diary. Actually you've really got me thinking now, I could use you as a guinea pig for weightloss from afar!
On the merina coil thing, I'm a massive fan of it. I don't have anymore periods, and I would prefer that than taking meds. It last for 5 years, so it's worth the pain for a short time.
I don't know what a stone is, but you look great! I have read that all kinds of things get stored in fat, so I guess that makes sense though...
Which son is that? He's a CUTIE!
Kahless, thanks! Have a fab hols and please bring back some pics.
VI, you want to use me for a guinea pig for one of your new weight loss business ventures? Your on! I would like to get down to 12 stone by Chopper's 45 birthday which is in March. Is this a sensible goal?
Hi Jill, a stone is 14 lbs. That is N3S, he is very cute. The other 2 are big boys, for more pics of all 3 sons scroll down my side bar .
I understand that for you the Mirena may not be the best option. It does last five years.
As for weight loss, I've joined Weight Watchers many a time and done it on my own when I get beyond my five-pound limit. I'm still struggling to get back down. Writing down what you eat is very helpful. Now that your toenail has grown back, how about some running again?
P.S. I think you look fab as you are.
I had to do a pound/stone conversion. You look great. Like Katy, I am only 5'2" and it's another story entirely to carry extra pounds, I would know. I need to lose 30 pounds. My Katie is snuggled in next to me this morning and admired you blue paisley top!
Yes you do look fab!
Hope the new pills help.
Hi Wake up, I think I am just a wimp when it ocme to the whole ocncept of the coil, come from being a midwife and knowing what goes on during the insertion i guess and the associated risks of cervical shock, infection, etc. I have started running again just this weekend, well moving at a fast shuffle anyway.
Hi Rain,
I am not sure how many pounds I need to loose to get down to 12 stone lets see... erm...34? Wow, yuck anyway am going to try and shift it as i will do almost naything to avoid unessesary surgery esp if lifestyle changes are all that are needed. Glad Katie liked the top, it is fab, I love it.
Hi Casdok, thanks. Fingers crossed about the pills!
That's a lovely photo. You are who you are, you have a wonderful inner beauty (together with an outer-one) and should only lose what you feel comfortable with.
Pills, pills. Doctors are pills mad these days. Best of luck with them. Not a nice thing to have your bits examined all the time.
Crystal xx
You're on mate. I'll contact you tomorrow about it.
You look fab, whatever you weigh.
But i understand a woman's need to be the 'right'weight. We all do it!
Good luck with vi's eating plan.
I recommend the mirena coil too!!
pxx
You do hold your weight well. Dieting is a pain. I'm very much a fork-and-shovel kinda gal! But when it's doctor's orders....
I did lose a bit earlier this year and taking my neighbour's dog for a walk every night helped.
Good Luck!
I've relocated.

You look great. Enjoy getting fit (and enjoy the all the calories that exercising allows you to replace)!
xx
I have to note that fifteen stone does look good on a tall woman :)
Diet-wise if I were to suggest anything it would be to eat less food in the evening: the later you eat, the harder it is for your body to digest it properly. So, if your routine allows, have a good breakfast and lunch, and something light in the evening.
Also, drink a glass or two of water half an hour before meals.
Good luck with whatever methods you do choose, and I hope things work out (no pun...) with your health.
Maybe at some point I'll finally get over to read your NWNN blog.
Hi CJ, thanks. The bit examinations just doesnt bother me at all, I find it not a lot different to having my throat looked at, maybe 'cos I am a midwife and it is all in a days work for me?
Hi Px, thanks! the idea of having soemthing 'permanatly' inserted into my body makes me cringe.
Lena, Thank you. I eat healthy anyway but it is a matter of reducing the amount I eat methinks!
Hi Belle, I will be over today.
But Why, thanks. No, no , no, must NOT replace lost calories!
Trousers thank you! You got me pegged right, I love to eat in the evenings. I sleep better with food in my stomach and as I have FMS being able to sleep well is vital. So reasonable advice but not a solution for me as an individual. Yes I MUST drink more water though, I must, I must...but first I need to attach a catherter... Oh and Trou? I think you'd enjoy my 'Wild hippie child' blog (new postings each Friday) more than the NWNN which is 'chick lit'.Unless you liike chick lit that is...
Of course, you look lovely! And now I know what "stone" means :). I stink at losing any weight, and thankfully have not had to do so much. I just wear bigger clothes when needed (there, my diet tip). I did get Mirena a few months ago, and can only rave. After you get over the first weeks of intense, gut wrenching pain....
Thank you for the mention, my friend! I am honored to be mentioned amongst these talented women writers, including yourself.
Greetings!
I lost a stone and a half in two weeks when my jaw was wired shut. Which proves the "stop eating" theory, at least in the short term!
If you're "jogging" for 20 minutes twice a week (and can boost that to 30 minutes or three times a week), you should lose the weight no problem. If you need a big meal at the end of the day, then skip pudding at lunch time and avoid snacks.
btw, if you ain't dripping with sweat during your "jog", you ain't moving fast enough! :)
