Honest Scrap
I received the Honest Scrap Award from the brilliant writer Jamieson Wolf
Below are the guidelines when winning the Honest Scrap award:
1. List 10 honest things about yourself (try to make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep!)2. Pass the award on to 10 bloggers
Okay, so here’s ten things about myself:
1- I actually find writing to be quite difficult though I keep on doing it because the urge is overwhelming...except at the moment when I am struggling with writer's block. The urge is still there but I just can't satisfy it...*Grump*
2- I can speak a teensy bit of Japanese.
3- I spent an afternoon shopping with some members of the Japanese triad.
4- I am becoming afraid of heights as I get older which is odd because I used to frequently hide way up in an Alder tree as a child.
5- I am a bit of a Heinz 57 mix of ethnicity. I apparently have some Sioux Indian, French Canadian, Black, Scottish, Gypsy and English in me
6- Both of my great grandmothers are alleged to have had more than one extra marital affair. That could explain number 5.
7- I really dislike speaking on the phone, especially answering it. I will go to great lengths to avoid it although I am happy to text or email.
8- I do not like clocks and will hide mine under the bed when I do not have to work. I don't know why I have a clock in the room anyway as I tend to wake long before I have to get up for work
9- When I was 14, by Crown Court Order, I was made to see a child psychologist on a regular basis. During the time that I was being 'child psychologisted', I had a story published in an anthology called 'Am I the only one?'. 25 years later I had a (different) story published in an anthology called 'You're not the only one'. I find the symmetry of this particularly pleasing.
10- I am able to crow like a rooster. No I don't know why I learnt to do this either, spent too much time on my own with them I suppose. And no, I will not post a recording. However, I may show off this extra 'special' talent for those who come to my book launch but only if we sell at least 60 tickets.
Here comes the most challenging part. 10 blogs (in no particular order) that I believe deserve this award...actually I want to give it to everyone on my blogroll but the spoilsport rules won't let me :(
So Troy, Captain Corky, Tom Foolery, Lady in Red, Carol, The Purple Coo-ers, Sue G, Jenny, Tim, Leigh collect your award and write up your blog posts. Hope to see everyone back here for the first wordless Wednesday of the year. xo
P.S. click here to go to my publisher's blog if you want to read more about our book launch

21 reciprocal ramblings:
Thank you, DJ. I am honoured. I am not sure the world is ready for such information about me, but I will do my best to keep it savoury ;-)
Thnaks DJ, very kind. Let me ponder, I'm in a pondering mood today :) TFx
Thanks I think, does this mean you think my blog is honest? Of course it could all be a sham and I'm really a happily married 70 yr old man who likes to fool everyone...... Darn I forgot for a moment a member of your household knows me. my cover is blown lol.
Thanks DJ, I am first and accept the award on behalf of the Purplecooers. I will put this challenge on my list and have a go.
I love your interesting facts!
Thanks! I love your answers and can't imagine mine being anywhere near as interesting, so I'm going to spend a day or 2 seeing what I can come up with. Of course, it will be fun -- what's more fun than thinking about yourself :-)) ?
Interesting interesting facts!
Hate the telephone too and will do anything to avoid it:-)
Hi Leigh,
Savoury? Booooring :) xo
Hi TF
Ponder away my friend.
Hi Lady
Lol. Yes...nice try though.
Hi Cait
I look forward to your answers.
Hi Helen
Thanks honey. xo
Hi Sue
I find you fascinating and expect your answers will be more of the same. I challenge you to come up with ten answers from 2008.
Hi Lane
Interesting to know there is someone else who thinks phones are an instrument of torture!
Shopping with members of the Japanese triad sounds interesting!
What interesting facts. I'm only a mixture of Irish/English, which seems very dull.
I loathe the phone, and am always in trouble at work for keeping my answerphone on so no one can contact me.
Hi Casdok
It was simply boring at the time as it was part of my job but now that I am older and wiser I realise that I should have been frightened!
Hi Debs
Lol. I am always suprised when my phone at work rings and stare at it stunned before answering it.
Thanks for the award DJ. I'll be taking my time over doing it though because I've only just recovered from doing the "7 things" meme.
If you are a Heinz 57 mix does that mean you have a "best before" date? If so, what is it?
Thank you for the award DJ - also on behalf of Purplecoo . . .
Interesting facts from you, but would expect no less . .
So sorry I can't come to your book launch - just a tad to far and no hills . . .
Hi Troy
My best before date was 35 years of age. *sigh*
Hi WW
Thanks. I look forward to reading answers from some Coo-ers. I completly understand why you can't make the launch, it is a bit far to be flying and way too cold this time of year to go even a short distance on a broom anyway :)
Thanks (I think) DJ - although my answers won't be anything like as interesting as yours!
Hi Tim
Everyone is interesting. I want to know how to retire young like you did!
Thanks goodness you didn't put me! I try not to reveal too much of the man inside the commuter. I'll check out the book launch details.
Japanese! That Is a difficult language.I once worked in a London Youth Hostel.'had several Japanese friends.Great People.
Hey! I hate heights too!"Always Keep Your Feet On The Ground" MeThinks!
Hi JD
I know better than to tag you. xo
Hi Tony
The Japanese language is very intriguing, quite extensive and exquisitly expressive. I liked having excuses to speak it.
Thanks for award! I appreciate that you thought of me. ;)
Thanks for the award honey!! I shall attempt it once we are back in the UK and things have settled down a wee bit.
I love the telephone. I find it much easier to talk to someone than I do to write to them. I changed schools half way through Primary and because of that I never really learned how to use grammar properly. I find expressing myself through writing very difficult :-(
Hehehehe....I am going to hold you to the rooster thing....
