Lazy Sunday

I got the idea of posting a photo of my favourite plate from Rachel's blog post. I found this plate at a charity shop. Didn't need it and I normally much prefer having a completely matched set of table ware (yes, I am soooo anal and boring) but couldn't resist buying it. Do you have a favourite find?

N3S and I went strawberry picking yesterday. He has a tendency to wander so I had to make sure he stayed in front of me and then I alternated between picking and looking to see how far he'd gone up and across the rows. Nerve wracking but worth it. He liked his 'freedom' and I got loads of berries. Today I will be turning that perfumed hoard into jam, pie filling preserves, wine and one large pavlova. Yum, yum, yum...

Our computer goes in for a service on Tuesday and I am so routine bound that I am unlikely to use either of our other two computers to write blog posts. So if you don't hear from me for a while that will be why. xo

P.S. if you want a little something extra to keep you busy while I am waiting for my computer to come back from repairs then you can read my post called 'The Umbrella of Love'

Lovely plate.

I loathe the idea of sending my computer in for a service!
I would feel compelled to remove all the porn first.

Not porn-pron, you understand, but writing porn.

I've got a plate like that! I can see it on the draining board from where I'm sat typing.

I can see why you like that plate - it's lovely. x

Like the plate too.

I used to love going strawberry picking, such wonderful memories.

It's amazing what great things can be found in a secondhand store! Sounds like a great Sunday!

You're making strawberry wine? Wow! Yummy!

Hi Rachel
Lol. Don't you save your writing to a stick? I don't save to my hard drive anymore as I don't trust it ever since I lost an academic essay.

Hi Caroline
I don't know how to do any less...'sides the strawberries would have gone to waste if I hadn't used them yesterday. I am tired though...

Hi Trousers
It is such a lovely plate. I only use if for side dishes though, can't bear it if we aren't all eating off the same design of plate.

Hi Suzanne
Thank you!

Hi Debs
It is absolutely boiling over here and it was idyllic picking strawberries in the hot sun. Less so preserving them although doing it in the heat made it feel that it was as it should be. I always remember preserving food in a very hot kitchen, can't think of a time when it was cool.

Hi Gran
They call them charity shops over here as they all represent a different charity but the secondhand goodies inside are the same as back home.

Hi Helen
I sure hope so. This is the first year I have made it. I usually make blackberry wine or elderflower fizz as there are loads of berries and flowers in the convservation grounds near us.

Am most impressed with what your planning to do with the strawbs you picked!! I've never heard of strawberry wine...you'll have to let me know how you get on!!

Hope you get your computer back soon...you'll be missed!!

Such a pretty plate. I love finds like that and can't resist when I see a 'special' one.

Glad NS3 enjoyed harvesting. And you're all going to enjoy the fruits of your labour:-)

I am so glad I'm not the only one who has some mismatched plates. I have 3 that I found at a flea market. I don't think I've ever used them. Tried to explain to my husband that they were more for looking at than eating off of, but he didn't seem to understand. Used to have one of them hanging on the wall over my computer so I could see it all the time. (Now that we've moved, I need to hang it again.)

Just wanted to say also that I'm really enjoying your blog. Drat! hate finding interesting blogs when there's house work that *has* to be done today...oh well...gonna relax and read...house work will still be there when I'm finished--unfortunately!

(Now if they'd just invent a computer that would clean house while you type!)

We were talking about pavlova today, love it, especially with raspberries.

I know what you mean about computers, it's easy to get used to using the same one.

Hi Carol
I will send you the recipe!

Hi Lane
There is something kind of wonderful about opening a jar of home preserves in the cold of winter.

Hi Pamela
I am glad you are enjoying my blog...if you get bored here I have a few others that you might like which you can get to by following links in the upper right sidebar. If you ever get a house cleaning computer let me know where you found it, I want one too!

Hi CJ
I have never made it with raspberries but will do as soon as ours are ripe.

Oh such a pretty plate. I used to buy crockery at auction and sell it on ebay and loved handling the different pieces - and ended up keeping quite a few too. When we get all our things over here to Ireland, I'll blog on some of them. Sad your computer has to go in.

I took my 4 year old grandson Jack strawberry picking and he loved it. We ate lots!

We have loads of odd plates all over the walls, must take some pics.

I'm still waiting for my jam!

Nice plate idea. I might steal it. Send some jam my way.

Dang! I'm getting my tuesdays and wednesday muddled up .......probably due to jet lag.

We invested ina gizmo called a 'locator' something or other and pinned the 'receptors' to the children [and Nonna] so this visit although we kept losing everyone.....at least we could find them pretty darned quick. A great trick for a wanderer, a bolter and a distractor.
Cheers

*waves* Hello!

I miss afternoons strawberry-picking. It's not the same as an adult; it used to be a thing of wonder.

Still, strawberry wine sounds like a thing of wonder in its own right, so I guess that would be a good consolation!

Oh poor you, hope it's fixed soon. I can't possibly tell you my favourite find as I have so many; I'm a total car-boot-junkshop junkie. There's a carboot on in our local park tomorrow and I am actually bouncing with excitement, how sad is that?

DJ Kirkby said...

Hi Tim
The strawberry wine is delightful as is the blackberry wine I make every year.

Hi Sparxs
It is fixed! I used to love car booting before I had N3S but it is a total nightmare to take him into a crowd of people, not lose track of him when he makes yet another attempt to wander off AND enjoy looking for treasures.
